Students
of all ages listened intently and were engaged by Dr. D. Lights
multi-cultural tales that addressed such issues as self-esteem, justice,
honesty and self-respect. After her performance, they eagerly shared
their favorite stories and what they had learned. I recommend her
without reservation to any school that is seeking an assembly
with a message of significance!

Dr.
D Light was engaged for two weeks as Artist-In-Residence at Dean and
Algonquin Schools consisting of approximately 500 kindergarten through
4th grade students. She skillfully adapted her performances to meet
the needs and interests of her varied audiences. The children could
not stop talking about her stories and the way she told them. Even
parents called to ask if they could hear her because the students
talked so much about her at home. She instilled vital lessons and
memories the children will cherish their entire lives.

Thank you for your wonderful Respect Program. I will be sharing
your name with other principals. The following are comments the teachers
shared with me:
I was very
impressed with her message and delivery. I felt we could all benefit
from an inspirational presentation as this, no matter what age we
are.
I felt the
assembly was worthwhile. More importantly, the kids response
was that it was cool. They were willing to discuss each
story what age we are.
I really
enjoyed the program. I saw all the students listening and involved
in the stories. The students might not all have gotten the same message,
but they all took something away from the program.

Dr. D.Lights
stories were a great conclusion to a school-wide unit on the rain
forest. Her enthusiasm for her stories made them come to life
in the students eyes, and she was able to touch every person
in the audience. Through the use of nonsense words as
actions, the students were pulled into the life of the story, and
many bilingual students were excited to hear some words in their language
used in the stories. What a wonderful gift!
Sarah Montgomery,
